Once upon a time, right under the roots of a very wiggly-waggly oak tree, lived a bunny named Barnaby. Now, Barnaby wasn’t a regular bunny who only thought about clover. No, no! Barnaby had big, twitchy ears and even bigger dreams. Every night, he would look up at the big, round moon and whisper, 'That’s not a rock. That’s a giant, glowing Sky Carrot!' And you know what? He decided he was going to visit it.
But how does a bunny get to the sky? He needs a rocket, of course! Barnaby found a big cereal box and some shiny silver foil. Crinkle, crunch, fold! He used three very sticky stickers—one red, one blue, and one sparkly—to hold it all together. He called it the SS Carrot. Are you ready to help Barnaby start the engines? Get your hands ready. Let’s count together: Three... Two... One... FIZZ-WHOOSH!
The SS Carrot zoomed up, up, and away! It sailed through the night sky, which looked just like a big bowl of blueberry soup filled with sparkly sugar. Zip! Zap! Zoom! Barnaby peered out his little cardboard window. The stars went blink-blink and the wind went whish-whish, until suddenly—PUFF!
Barnaby landed. But he didn’t land on a hard rock. He landed on the Marshmallow Moon! Everything was white, bouncy, and smelled just like sweet vanilla. Barnaby hopped out and went Boing! Boing! Squeak! Every step he took felt like jumping on a giant pillow. But oh-oh! The moon was so soft that his rocket began to sink. It went shloop, shloop, shloop, just like a spoon sinking into a mug of hot cocoa.
'Oh bubbles!' Barnaby cried. Just then, he saw some tiny lights. They were the Star-Glint Beetles. They looked very sad. 'The moon is losing its glow,' they whined in tiny, buzzy voices. 'The stars keep falling off, and we can't stick them back!' Barnaby looked at his sinking rocket and then at his new friends. He had to be brave. He reached into his bunny-pocket and pulled out his secret weapon: a jar of Golden Honey Glue.
'Don’t worry!' Barnaby said. Together, they went Hop-step-jump! Barnaby smeared a little honey on the fallen stars and—Pop!—stuck them back onto the sky. The beetles cheered, 'Yay, Barnaby!' The moon began to glow brighter and brighter, turning a beautiful, warm gold. It was so bright that Barnaby could see his rocket again. With one big TUG, he pulled the SS Carrot out of the marshmallow fluff just in time.
The beetles were so happy they gave Barnaby a tiny, Glowing Moondust Pebble. 'To remember us,' they buzzed. Barnaby hugged his pebble, waved his paw, and hopped back into his box. Whoosh! He soared back down through the clouds, feeling very sleepy and very proud.
By the time the Sun started to peek over the hills with a sleepy yawn, Barnaby was tucked into his soft bed in the burrow. His ears were tired, his nose was twitchy, and in his paw, he held a pebble that glowed just a little bit. He realized that the world is full of magic, but the best part of any adventure is having a cozy home to come back to. And that’s how it all turned out just right. Goodnight, Barnaby. Goodnight, moon. Bedtime... shhh.
