Once upon a time, in the middle of the Garden of Giggles, lived a little bunny named Barnaby. Barnaby was so soft, he felt just like a fluffy cloud or a dandelion puff. Can you feel your own soft tummy? That’s just how Barnaby felt! He had a nose that went twitch-twitch-twitch and long ears that went flop-flop-flop.
One morning, the sun gave the garden a big, warm hug. Mmm! The grass tickled Barnaby’s paws, and the morning dew tasted like sweet tea. But then, Barnaby saw something sparkly. High above the red tulips was a bridge made of ribbons: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. It was a rainbow! Where did it go? Barnaby decided to find out. Hop, hop, hop!
Barnaby stepped onto the bridge. Oh! It was a little bit slippery and a tiny bit wobbly. Every time Barnaby took a leap—Boing!—the rainbow bridge hummed a little song. Hmm-mmm-mmm. He moved higher and higher, right into the middle of the big, blue sky. He saw clouds that went Puf! and tiny bits of glitter floating in the air. Was he scared? No, not Barnaby! He just wiggled his tail and kept going up, up, up!
At the very top of the rainbow, Barnaby met a new friend. This was Mariposa. She was a butterfly with wings that looked like painted glass. Flap, flap, flutter. Mariposa circled around Barnaby’s long ears. 'Hello, little bunny,' she seemed to say with a twinkle. They sat together on the purple stripe of the rainbow, looking down at the green garden far below. The world was so big, so bright, and so beautiful! Mariposa shared a secret story of the clouds, and Barnaby shared a secret story of the carrots.
But even the bravest bunnies get a little bit sleepy. Barnaby said goodbye to Mariposa—Wiggle-waggle!— and hopped back down the colorful bridge. Slide, glide, and… bump! He landed softly right back in his favorite bed of velvet moss. On the tip of his nose was a tiny speck of rainbow dust that shined like a star. He curled into a little ball, tucked in his paws, and closed his eyes. He was back home, safe and warm, ready for a long, cozy nap. And that’s how it all turned out just right.
