Cinder the fox was a tiny ninja. He had a white-tipped tail and a wooden training sword tucked in his belt. Swish, swish! He practiced his moves in the sunny woods. Cinder was brave, but he was also very kind. Suddenly, he heard a tiny sound. Flap, flap, flutter. What was that?
Cinder peeked through the tall grass. He saw a beautiful butterfly named Luma. Oh no! Luma was stuck in a sticky, silver spiderweb. The more she wiggled, the tighter the web held her wings. A big, round spider named Weaver watched from a leaf. Luma felt very scared and sad.
Cinder wanted to help his friend, but he had to be very careful. A ninja must be steady! He pulled out his wooden training sword. It wasn't for hurting; it was for helping. Cinder looked at the sticky threads and took a deep breath. Do you think he can do it?
Cinder moved as still as a stone. He used the tip of his sword to touch the web. Snip, snip, careful now! He lifted one silver thread. Then he lifted another. Weaver the spider watched Cinder work. Cinder’s amber eyes were very focused. He did not want to tear Luma’s fragile wings.
With one last soft nudge, the final sticky string popped off. Luma was free! She did not have a single scratch. Weaver the spider saw how much Cinder cared. Weaver decided to be kind, too. The spider crawled away to spin a new, sparkly home high up in the green trees.
Luma circled around Cinder’s blue ninja mask and landed right on his nose. Cinder felt very proud and happy. They rested together on a warm, sunny rock. Cinder knew that being a real hero meant using his strength to be gentle. It was a wonderful day in the woods!
