Once upon a time, in a garden filled with warm sunshine and soft dirt, lived a tiny kitten named Miki. Miki had four white paws, a tail that liked to wiggle, and whiskers that went twitch-twitch-twitch whenever a secret was nearby. Miki loved his garden, but sometimes, he wondered if there was something more behind the big, green leaves.
One morning, Miki saw a bright Blue Butterfly. Flap, flap, flap! Miki chased it under the big chard leaves. And there, hidden in the shadows, he found a tiny wooden door covered in soft moss. Miki reached out a paw. Tippy-tap. The door went Click! and then Pnuff! It swung open, and Miki stepped through.
Oh! Everything was different here. The air smelled fresh and cool. This was the Minty Kingdom! The ground wasn't just green; it was shimmering emerald. Miki leaned down and took a little bite of the grass. Munch, munch, munch. Can you guess what it tasted like? It tasted like sweet, cool mint! It was like eating a fuzzy green candy. Purr, purr, purr, Miki felt very happy.
Suddenly, he heard a very slow sound. Sliiide... stop. It was the Snail Knight! He wore a shiny thimble on his head like a hat. 'Hello, Miki,' the Snail Knight said slowly. 'The King is very sad. He lost his Silver Tinkle-Bell in the Tall Tickle-Grass. Without it, he can't find his way to his nap spot!' The King was a very big, very sleepy Golden Retriever dog who loved bells.
Miki wanted to help, but the minty grass was so bouncy! He rolled and he tumbled. Flop! He forgot about the bell. But then he saw the Snail Knight looking very worried. Miki remembered: it feels good to play, but it feels better to help a friend.
Miki put his pink nose to the ground. Sniff, sniff, sniff! He walked into the Tall Tickle-Grass. It went Swish-swash against his tummy. He looked under a peppermint leaf and—Glint!—there it was! The Silver Tinkle-Bell was caught in a branch. Miki grabbed it gently in his mouth. Ding-a-ling!
He ran back to the Golden King. The King saw his bell and gave a big 'Woof-wag!' and licked Miki’s ear. Miki felt very brave and very kind. But soon, the sun began to go down. It was time to go home.
Miki squeezed back through the mossy door—Pop!—and found himself in his own garden just in time for dinner. His tummy was full of milk, and his fur smelled like fresh, sweet mint. He curled up in his bed, dreaming of the emerald kingdom, knowing that magic is always waiting just behind a leaf. And that’s how it all turned out just right.
