High in the Whispering Mountains, Ryu was practicing his magic. His electric cobalt blue hair danced in the wind as he made small lights glow. Suddenly, the ground went rumble-thumble! The mountains were shaking! Ryu looked up and saw a mountain that was actually a person. It was a giant named Golem. Golem was crying big, salty tears. Can you guess why he was so sad?
Ryu climbed onto a flat rock to listen. Golem the giant sniffled and said, 'I have tiny friends living on my toes, but I cannot see them. Everything is just a blurry brown smudge!' Ryu looked down at the giant’s feet. He saw little red ladybugs named Dot and Dash. They were very small, and Golem was very big. How could Ryu help his giant friend see?
Ryu reached into his charcoal robes and pulled out two large crystal lenses. They were clear and bright. 'These will help you see, Golem!' Ryu shouted. But there was a problem. The lenses were just circles of glass. They would slide right off the giant’s big, rocky nose. Ryu needed something to hold them together. What could he use to make a pair of giant glasses?
Ryu looked at the cliffside and saw long, green mountain vines. 'I have an idea!' he said. Ryu raised his hands, and his blue light magic began to shine. He wove the vines together, twist-turn, twist-turn, until they formed a sturdy frame. He popped the crystal lenses into the green vines. Now the glasses were ready, but Ryu had to get them all the way up to Golem’s face!
Ryu climbed up Golem’s rocky knees and over his mossy shoulders. Puff-pant, puff-pant! It was a long way up. Finally, he reached the giant’s face and tucked the vine glasses behind Golem's ears. The giant blinked his huge eyes once, twice, and then he gasped. The blurry smudges were gone! Everything looked sharp and bright. What did Golem see when he looked down at his toes?
Golem smiled a smile as wide as a canyon. Through his new glasses, he could see Dot and Dash perfectly. He saw their bright red shells and their tiny black spots. 'Hello, little ones!' Golem whispered happily. Ryu sat on Golem’s shoulder and watched the ladybugs play. The giant wasn't lonely anymore, and the sun felt warm on his rocky skin. Isn't it wonderful to help a friend?
