Once upon a time, in the big, green Meadow of Soft Whispers, the sun was waking up. Do you see the yellow sun? It shone down on six tiny, fluffy ducklings. They were as yellow as lemons and as soft as clouds. Today was a very special day. It was time for the Quack-Quack Parade!
Madame Waddle, the wise teacher duck, flapped her wings. Whoosh, whoosh! She called out, 'Quack! Quack! Form a line, my little ones!' She wanted them to learn the Perfect Row Dance. Pip was the smallest duckling, and he loved to wiggle. Can you wiggle your tail like Pip? Wiggle-waggle, wiggle-waggle!
One by one, the ducklings stepped behind Madame Waddle. Pitter-patter, pitter-patter go the little feet. They were walking into the Tall Grass Forest. But oh my, the grass was so very tall! It was taller than Pip. It was even taller than his brothers and sisters.
Swish-swosh, swish-swosh went the grass. As they walked, the grass started to touch their tummies. It began to tickle! Pip felt a little tickle on his belly. 'Tee-hee!' he chirped. Then the next duckling felt a tickle too. 'Tee-hee-hee!' The grass went skritch-scratch, tickle-tickle.
Suddenly, a big, round bumblebee flew past. Zip-zap-zoom! Pip stopped walking to look at the fuzzy bee. Then the duckling behind him stopped to look at a sleeping daisy. Then another duckling started to spin in a happy circle. Oh no! The nice straight line was gone. The parade looked like a wiggly, jumbled noodle!
'Where are we going?' asked Pip. He looked left, and he saw a flower. He looked right, and he saw a ladybug. But he couldn't see Madame Waddle! The grass was just too ticklish and too high.
Madame Waddle heard the quiet chirps. She knew exactly what to do. She began to sing a rhythmic song with her feet. Stamp-flap, stamp-flap! 'Flip, flap, follow me!' she called out. 'Quack-quack, back on track!'
Can you hear her voice? Pip heard it! He followed the sound through the stalks. He reached out and touched the tail of the duckling in front of him. It felt like a warm hug. One by one, they found each other. They felt the 'Invisible String' pulling them back into a beautiful row.
Madame Waddle led them out of the tickle-grass and all the way to the Sparkling Pond. The water went splash! The sun went glow! They had done it. They walked in a perfect line, all the way to the end.
And that is how the Quack-Quack Parade found its way home. Pip felt very proud and very sleepy. He learned that walking together is the best way to have an adventure. And they all lived happily ever after. Sweet dreams, little duckling.
