Once upon a time, in a garden filled with golden sunshine, lived a very special dog named Trixi. Trixi was a Bernese Mountain Dog, as fluffy as a cloud and as soft as a velvet cushion. She had a snowy white chest like a bright star and tiny rust-colored dots above her eyes that looked like dancing eyebrows. Can you wiggle your eyebrows like Trixi?

One afternoon, Trixi heard a soft sound. Flutter-flap, flutter-flap. A beautiful blue butterfly was dancing in the air. Trixi’s tail went swish-swosh, swish-swosh! She hopped, she trotted, and she wiggled her nose. She followed that blue butterfly through a secret archway made of green ivy leaves. Everything felt sparkly and warm, like a long, cozy hug.

Suddenly—Pop!—Trixi wasn’t in her garden anymore. She was in a big room with high stone ceilings and tall windows. It smelled like pine trees and honey. This was the workshop of a famous painter named Maestro Leo! Leo looked very sad. He was staring at a big, empty canvas. He wanted to paint a picture of 'Happiness,' but he didn't know what happiness looked like. He looked at his paints, and he sighed a big, grumpy sigh.

Trixi trotted up to him. Her paws went patter-pitter, patter-pitter on the stone floor. She wanted to help! But oh no, her big, bushy tail went thump-whump against a table. Clatter-bang! A jar of golden paint tipped over. Trixi poked her nose into the gold puddle nearby. Sniff-sniff! When she looked up, she had a bright, shiny gold smudge right on the tip of her black nose.

Maestro Leo didn't get angry. He looked at Trixi’s silly gold nose. He looked at her dancing eyebrows. He saw her big, happy smile. 'That’s it!' he cried. 'That is happiness!' He grabbed his brushes. Swish-swosh, swish-swosh went the brushes on the canvas. Zip-zap, zip-zap went the colors. Trixi sat very still, like a fluffy queen, her brass bell jingling softly. Tinkle-ting!

Leo painted Trixi's kind eyes and her star-shaped chest. He painted the way she looked at the world with love. Soon, the canvas was full of bright colors and joy. Leo was so happy he gave Trixi a gentle pat on her soft ears.

Then, the blue butterfly appeared again. Flutter-flap! It was time to go home. Trixi trotted back through the ivy archway. Step, jump, wiggle.

When Trixi was back in her own garden, she felt very warm inside. Far away, in a big museum, people would look at Leo’s painting and smile, because Trixi had shown them how to be happy. And that’s how it all turned out just right. Sleep tight, little painter.
