Once upon a time, in a forest called the Rooty-Tooty Woods, lived a tiny wood elf named Twig. Twig was very small—only as tall as your favorite toy! He wore a jumpsuit made of fuzzy green moss that felt like a warm hug, and his hair was braided from long, green meadow grass. Twig loved to walk through the woods with his special stick, which had a big, fluffy white dandelion on top. Swish, swish, swish went his feet on the leaves.

One sunny afternoon, Twig found a very strange log. It wasn't just a regular brown log. It was a hollow log that smelled like stardust and made a soft sound: bzz-bzz, bzz-bzz. Inside the log, Twig saw two big, glowing buttons. One was sparkly like a diamond, and the other was pink and squishy like a cloud. It was a teleporter! A magic machine for traveling!

If he pressed the sparkly button, he would go to the Tinkling Crystal Caves. Ting-ting! If he pressed the pink button, he would go to the Marshmallow Mountains. Boing-boing! Twig’s amber eyes went wide. He wanted to go to both! He wanted to go right now! Have you ever wanted two treats at the same time? That is exactly how Twig felt.

Twig got so excited that he didn’t pick one. He tried to jump and hit both buttons at the exact same time! Pop-Fizz! Oh no! There was a silly sound and a cloud of purple glitter. Twig looked down. His fluffy dandelion stick had disappeared into the Crystal Caves! And his little acorn satchel had vanished into the Marshmallow Mountains! Twig was all alone in the log. He realized he couldn't go two places at once. If he tried to rush, he didn't get to go anywhere at all.

Twig took a deep breath. He put his little hands on his mossy jumpsuit and listened to his heart. Thump-thump, thump-thump. He decided to be patient. 'I will go to the Crystal Caves first,' he said bravely. He reached out his tiny finger and—Click!—he pressed the sparkly button. Whoosh!

In a blink, Twig was in a cave filled with glowing jewels. He found his dandelion stick leaning against a sapphire stone. Tinkle-tinkle! sang the crystals. Twig played with a shy crystal bat named Echo, and they hummed a pretty song together. Twig wasn't rushing anymore. He was having a wonderful time because he made one clear choice.

When it was time to go home, Twig knew the Marshmallow Mountains would be waiting for him tomorrow. He felt very proud and very happy. He hopped back through the log and headed home for a nap in his soft leaf bed. And that’s how it all turned out just right.
