Once upon a time, there was a green dragon named Zog. Zog was very round, like a big, green pear. He had a soft minty tummy and tiny, tiny wings. Puf, puf, puf! went his wings.
Zog went for a walk into the deep Crystal Caverns. It was very quiet. It was a little bit dark. The shadows were long and stretchy. Zog’s tummy went 'Zip-zap!' He felt a tiny bit scared. Can you make a brave face like Zog? He held his leather satchel tight and walked deeper into the cave. Tip-tap, tip-tap, tip-tap went his feet on the cold floor.
Suddenly, the shadows went 'Whoosh!' Zog saw big, grey shapes ahead. They looked like giant stone faces in the dark. How spooky! Zog stayed very still. But then, something magical happened.
'Ping!' went one rock. 'Bong!' went another rock. 'La-la-la-rumble!' sang a big mama rock.
They weren't scary monsters at all! They were the Harmonites, a family of singing rocks. They started to glow. They turned bright pink, sunny yellow, and ocean blue. 'Clack-clack, bounce!' The rocks started to roll. They wanted Zog to follow them.
The Harmonites sang a low, rumbling song that felt like a warm hug. As they sang, the walls of the cave began to sparkle. Everything turned into a tunnel of dancing rainbows! Red light, green light, purple light—everywhere!
Zog wasn't scared anymore. He felt very happy. He followed the singing rocks through the rainbow tunnel. Puf, puf, puf! went his tiny wings. Can you wiggle your wings like Zog?
The song was slow and sweet, like a rocking cradle. The rocks hummed a gentle lullaby. Zog felt his big amber eyes getting heavy. He reached the end of the tunnel and found a soft, mossy bed.
The dark wasn't scary when you had singing friends and rainbow lights. Zog curled his tail, gave a big yawn, and went fast asleep. Shhh... goodnight, brave Zog.
And that’s how it all turned out just right.
